I just saw Avengers.
NO ONE WAS LYING ABOUT IT BEING GOOD.
It completely deserves that 93% ranking it got on rotten tomatoes. Bravo.

I have never used the bullet point functions on Tumblr, so i will use them today.
Avengers had:

Believable action. Okay, well… somewhat believable. One can only be thrown through so many buildings and shot with so many matter destroying alien rays before we start to doubt their invincibility.
Great character development. It all felt really… believable. No one was a flat “I am all good and have a one track mind set on saving the world!” I liked that they fought amongst themselves. Super real.
A good villain with a believable motive. Surprising how it’s hard to find these nowadays. Just wanting to destroy the world for the sake of destroying it is not a good enough reason.

Keyword in these assets: BELIEVABLE!
A main-ish character dies! Yes! Sacrifice is needed!
Superb acting. Well, Samuel L. Jackson was a little.. eh, but it’s still Samuel L. Jackson. Not much is required of him. His presence is enough.
Humor! It was funny. Sarcastic funny, slapstick funny, and witty funny. A lot of action films take themselves way too seriously.
Chris Hemsworth’s blue blue eyes. Nuff said.

There were some plot holes, but I’m willing to let those slide because what story doesn’t have some questionable parts.
Can’t wait to see it again.

Now…. if only they had invested that much into Hunger Games….

That would be my mom.

I came home a couple of days ago to find my mom composting and eating organic errything and making her own peanut butter and growing her own black sesame seeds because she complained that she tested the black sesame from five different grocery stores and they were all dyed black. And, she had to call the FDA to complain about the regulation of black sesame seeds being legit; and, they replied that they were having their own problems regulating this. Or something. Don’t eat black sesame seeds.

And I find that she has been crocheting up a storm and almost every surface of the house is covered in some yarn creation. I may be slightly exaggerating (No, i’m not). But I now have two new laptop cases since she saw my laptop. Two days ago. Hm.

Airplanes are an interesting space.
On the plane, this older gentleman with a head full of silver white hair sat down next to me and started talking to me. He pointed to a picture in his newspaper and asked me “Have you ever seen this movie?”

I stared at the picture for a moment, trying to decipher if it was from some other movie beside the obvious one that came to mind. “Titanic?”

“Yes, Titanic.”

“Yes, of course I have.” I say, trying to appear friendly and silently hoping that he is not mentally ill and just really talkative.

“You know that Kate Winslet character?” He asks, closing the newspaper and turning to look at me.

“Yeah, sure.”

“Well, a lot of people say that she was a fictional character, but she was actually real.”

“Ohh.. that’s really interesting.” This is where I silently start to worry and think that I should have put my headphones into my ears faster.

“You know the rich man that she went onto the ship with in the movie? The real life character actually did board the ship with a rich man. But he was one of those spoiled momma’s boys. And his mother gave him an allowance every month. Guess how much she gave him each month in relation to today’s money.”

He seems nice. Harmless at least. So, I respond, but don’t humor.

“Um, I have no idea. How much?”

“15 million. Every month!” He stares at me waiting for a reaction.

“Wow. That is quite a lot of money.”

“Yeah.”

“That’s interesting… thanks for sharing.”

And that was the end of the conversation. It later dawned on me to look up what James Cameron looked like. And lo and behold…. it probably was not him. Haha. Kind of looked like him I guess, with the hair and all. But what in the world would James Cameron be doing on a southwest flight going to San Jose?

I also looked up Kate Winslet’s fictional character from the film to see if there was any truth to his trivial tidbit. I can’t find any proof for it, so I don’t know where he got the information. But if it’s true then that is indeed quite interesting.
